God-exalting community (1 Pet 2:9) - We come from the point of view that the church and all of creation exists not to promote itself, but to "proclaim the excellencies of God." God made us for one primary reason: to worship Him in the context of intimate relationship. So we want God to be our #1 audience in everything we do.
Gospel community (Eph. 3:6; Acts 2:42-47) - The gospel is God's hope to the world. It is the power of God for salvation that bears fruit throughout the world. And so, it is our life-blood. It causes us to be one of the most accepting and welcoming communities because God, Himself, embraces us right where we are. But the gospel also makes us a transformed community because God takes us to where we never dreamed we could go. As the lifeblood of the church, the gospel - not race, fashion, gender, or age - will define what kind of community we will be. We will stand or fall by it alone.
By the power of the Holy Spirit (Acts 1:8; Gal. 5:16-25) - The Holy Spirit has been consistently taken for granted, so we wanted to boldly say that all Christian ministry and personal growth occurs through the Holy Spirit. It gives vitality and life to the church. Without the Spirit, we are hopelessly stuck in a raging spiritual war with no power for change
That multiplies Ö throughout the world (Matt. 28:18-20; Acts) - God's heart is for the world: for the nations to joyfully proclaim His worth. And multiplying communities of faith throughout the world was the primary means by which the early church "made disciples of all nations." We want to take this one step further by multiplying God-exalting, gospel communities that will, in turn, multiply other multiplying communities throughout the word.
Passionate worshippers of Jesus Christ (John 4:23-24; Matt. 22:34-40) - This is our attempt to redefine the diluted term, "Christian." From the beginning, God has long sought "true worshippers" who "worship in spirit and truth" (John 4). This is where human history is heading: passionate worship of God among the nations. Church ministry, missions and learning will cease, but worship will continue. Anticipating this, we seek to form passionate worshippers NOW who love God with all their "heart, soul, mind, and strength."
