Mike and Leslie Kim
The Kims
After eight and a half years spent church planting and pastoring BayLight Church Community in the Bay area, Mike, Leslie and family have moved out of local pastoral ministry to help lay the foundation for greater global mission — beginning in an Arizona town appropriately named, Globe.
Together, with other families in the growing community in Globe, they are
asking God how to live out mission, community and spirituality in an ancient-yet-new way that gets back to God’s natural design for life yet also prepares disciples for a present future that has already begun to irrevocably change the structure of life, economics and relationships on our planet. Re-embracing values like Sustainability, Reproducibility and Transformation (both personal and global), they seek to live as resilient communities that live and work together in “secular” space for the purpose of transforming these local, “secular” communities around them toward Kingdom realities that exist in heaven but not yet on earth. Firmly believing God’s heart is for the world and that He has a timing on all things, the communal focus has been on hearing and following God’s voice rather than on strategy and resources. So far this M.O. combined with the previously mentioned values looks like:

So far this M.O. combined with the previously mentioned values looks like:
- following Jesus’ open doors for political/civic change in local government,
- helping the “least of these” to whom Jesus would be ministering,
- praying with authority against ancient powers and principalities that have been governing Globe for centuries,
- the establishing of community supported agriculture to promote community relationships and God’s love for life [and all things green],
- the starting of new businesses (like Ecotourism and Life Enrichment Centers) that will provide us opportunities to disciple not-yet-Christians while also pursuing greater financial self-sustainability for global mission,
- the developing of “third places” where sacred and secular people who would never go to church can interact meaningfully (Vida E Caffe),
- the establishing of mission inroads into the Apache peoples next door for the purpose of historic reconciliation and spiritual reconciliation to the Father of all nations,
- and the replication of other ”Basecamp” communities that can operate under similar values across the world (So far, the Lord is already spreading this grassroots movement throughout cities in America, Europe, Asia and the Middle East.).
